Why I Stopped Weighing Myself Regularly—and You Might Want to as Well
Share
For a while, I was obsessed with the scale. Weighing myself daily became a rollercoaster of emotions, dictating my mood and my confidence.
If the number went down, I was happy.
If it stayed the same or went up, I felt defeated.
It was exhausting.
I realized that if I was going to maintain a healthier lifestyle, it needed to feel comfortable—not like a new source of stress. The numbers had too much control over my mindset, so I decided to step back.
Why Ditch the Needle Scale?
The scale only tells you one thing: your weight. But your health and progress are so much more than a number! Here’s what the scale doesn’t tell you:
- How much food is still in your digestive system
- How much water your body is holding
- How much muscle you’ve gained
- How your clothes fit
- How much stress you're under
- Your self-worth
How I Track My Progress Instead
Instead of relying on the scale, I started paying attention to other signs of progress—ones that truly reflect my well-being:
-
Body Measurements – Using a measuring tape to track changes in inches
- How My Clothes Fit – Feeling more comfortable in my outfits
- Strength & Endurance – Lifting heavier weights, running longer distances
- Energy Levels – Noticing how much better I feel throughout the day
- Before & After Photos – Seeing visible changes over time
Now, I only weigh myself when I feel good—when I want to, not when I feel obligated to. And honestly? It’s been freeing.
You Are More Than a Number
We are so much more than our weight. We have personalities, minds, and purpose beyond a number on a scale. If you’re feeling stuck in the cycle of scale obsession, try shifting your focus to the bigger picture—your health, strength, and happiness.
Keep taking small, daily steps toward a wellthy life. Each one adds up. You’ve got this!
Why I Use a Digital Scale When I Weigh Myself
When weighing ourselves I recommend using a digital scale. I really appreciate having my Renpho scale that has tracked a lot of trends and helped me along my body recomposition journey. Losing fat and building more muscle.
It's not just a weight number. I also get body fat percentage, fat-free mass, visceral fat, subcutaneous fat, and more. Now, I'll weigh myself once a week or twice a month nowadays.
The only number I'm obsessed with is 24!!!
24 hours a day to be my best self!!!
